SIGS Instructions to Authors :: Table Formatting

[SIGS Instructions to Authors]

Typically, tables will be provided to authors in the appropriate format, often with pre-populated values, for the relevant genome.

Please note the following:

  • SIGS defines a genome as the full complement of self-replicating DNA within a cell, including plasmids.
  • Pre-formatted tables are embedded in the manuscript and, in general, should not be submitted as a separate file or be appended to the end of the manuscript.
  • Superscript letters should be used in table captions and table bodies to indicate information in footnotes.
  • Tables should be constructed with one data value per cell.

The complement of tables in a SIGS short genome report for Bacteria and Archaea include:

The MIGS-based data record for a genome is also to be incorporated with each report (Table S1).

Note, for Table 3, an INSDC identifier is a GenBank or EMBL or DDBJ accession number. Optional: an additional column may be included to refer to another non-INSDC identifier scheme (such as RefSeq) depending on what identifier aided the process of data retrieval. Where applicable, please include the version of the identifier (for instance "CP000123.1" and not just "CP000123").
